After taking a good look at my event calendar of Orlando you can easily see that there is a lot going on this weekend, and everything looks awesome! How do you choose what you want to do? I know I want to do it all, but unfortunately I am human and get exhausted after a full day of play, so pick and choose I must. To help you do the same I will go through the different days on the calendar and I hope it helps you wander Orlando!
TGIF! And we start off with a bang! You can head on over to Artegon anywhere from 5-9pm for Food Truck Friday. There will not only be several culinary options, but there will also be live music and entertainment. If you make a purchase of $20 from any store in the mall and bring the receipt to guest services you will receive $5 in Food Truck Bucks! In addition, Barks & Crafts is tonight from 6-8pm at Eola Pets on Church St. downtown. This includes a wine tasting as well as a craft that your pup gets to help make! Which sounds absolutely adorable and I’m eager to see the creative crafts everyone’s furry friend came up with! For another activity tonight there is Movie in the Park, playing Zootopia at Center Lake Park starting at dusk. This is a free event and all you have to do is come prepared with a blanket &/or lawn chairs to relax in. Food will be available for purchase. The final three things to do in Orlando are Halloween Horror Nights from 6:30-1am , Cirque Du Soleil:OVO starting at 7:30pm, or Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party from 7-12am, all thoroughly explained in my blog Make It A September To Remember.
Moving on to Saturday, Sept 24, World Of Beer starts their WOBtoberfest Party from open to close (11am-2am). At this, they’re going to have a pretzel eating contest, stein holding contest, giveaways, live music, and great German beers to choose from! Another exciting event taking place is a Soap & Candle Workshop at Naked Bar Soap Co. from 6-8pm. This event is $50 and you will be able to customize your own soy lotion candle. You will “choose a fragrance, measure and mix the wax and oil, and then pour into a 6 oz. tin using your chosen ingredients. In addition, you will also be able to customize a half pound of their prepared soap batter using essential oils, herbs, and botanicals.” At the end of this you not only leave with your two creations, but they also include a special swag bag with their products as well as Aline & Me Candle Company! Be sure to check out their site to book your workshop session and get all the details to make your experience the best it can be! Fear not, if this event is right up your alley as it is mine, but the date doesn’t work for you, they have one each month until the end of the year. Or maybe you loved this one and want to keep going back, which would be awesome! All of them are posted on my calendar so you can take a look and plan a great time with friends. An additional activity on Saturday is the Pokemon Go Lake Eola Meetup going from 7-10pm. There will be food trucks as well as a tournament that you can compete in to win prizes! Finally, Cirque Du Soleil: OVO has 2 shows, one at 4pm and the other at 7:30pm and Halloween Horror Nights again from 6:30-1am.
Finally, Sunday Funday! A busy one at that. If you’re looking to travel outside of Orlando a bit, Wanderlust 108 is taking pace in Tampa from 7:30-3:45pm. This involves a 5k run/walk, a yoga class for 75 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of meditation. I’ve been practicing yoga for about a year and a half and this looks like an absolutely amazing day filled with so much positive energy! If you decide you’d rather stay in the Orlando area but still be active there is a Global 10K & 3K starting at 7:30am around Festival Park downtown. Once you’re finished with that you can make your way over to Lake Eola Park for the Farmers Market going from 10am-4pm. Also in the area is a public yoga class around Lake Eola starting at 11am for $5. A little later, at 7pm head on over to the SAK Comedy Club for the Orlando Cringe comedy show for $14. Here the comedians will perform improv scenes based off of real life diary readings. Sounds horrifying and hilarious! Maybe you’re closer to a more touristy side of Orlando, I-drive. The International Food & Drink Festival is taking place from 11am-7pm in front of the Orlando Eye. There will be live music, an eating contest followed by some prizes, entertainment, and of course food from all over the world! Sunday night is also the final day for Ciruqe Du Soleil: OVO with the shows being at 1:30pm and 5pm, as well as Halloween Horror Nights from 6:30-1am and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party from 7-12am. Finally, finish up your weekend playing Bingo After Dark on Wall Street downtown from 10-2am. There will be drink specials, music, and bingo with prizes of course!
Don’t forget everyday until November 14th is Disney’s Food & Wine Festival going on at Epcot from open to close. If you can make it, it truly is a wonderful time! I hope this helped you make up your mind with what you’re going to do this weekend and that you enjoy at least one of these great activities! I know I will!
Until next time; keep wandering!
